Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
June 5th, 2011
Governors Island, New York
Last year this was the same weekend as ESPI5 so I missed it but I was at the first year and second. I highly recommended making it to this because watching polo in New York City is not very common. The 2008 event was the first in [...]

DAB magazine, out of Rochester, New York, is the first devoted to bike polo. And here is a peek at the first issue.
It’s a good first effort with submitted writing, and photos. Also product reviews and event re-caps. Looking forward to more.
I heard the editor is open to submissions, if interested try the gmail address [...]

Peter was in The Pit for the first Bench Minor and some of his photos are in the new COG. Lots of NYC in this issue. I noticed Peter had a new Canon Mark IV and I was very envious but not sure if more so that he had it on a [...]

doug, minor edit: i do not claim copyright cause they’re just photos of photos by julian broad and i think intersection has the copyright on them. and not all the photos are here. if you want to see the real deal, pick up a copy of the most recent Intersection (UK), a magazine founded by Yorgo, who also got bike polo going in Paris/London.

Ok, Thanks. I’ll take that out. and yes I want to get a copy to see the rest of the shoot.

Hey Doug – will post some proper jpgs of the spreads on my blog soon. Will let you know. Shame we couldn’t do this in NYC as we orginally planned to, but thanks for scouting for locations back then.
I’m only half-happy with the shoot. The pics are great, but I wanted:
- a more urban location so the horses look even more out of place
- More natural styling for the bike polo players, not fancy tuxedos and pink loafers…
- More “polo” styling for the horse polo players, super-fancy shit.
But thanks to all involved, the action images look great. We did a movie too, haven’t seen it yet.

Yorgo, Thanks and I’ll be glad to see the link but I did go out and buy a copy for myself. ($5.99US for anyone wanting a copy) and thanks for the credit! I see what you mean about the things you wanted. but I like it as is.
Let’s see that movie.

Hi, don’t know if you guys will ever get to see this post – but anyway. Spotted the spread on http://hollisterhovey.blogspot.com/search?q=polo and thought I’d investigate further. Great photos and great idea. I play polo here in the UK now, but have always wanted to give bike polo a shot (can’t afford a bike). Movie ever come out?
