Cold Balls. Seattle.
Two minutes of gameplay at the Tour De Polo II. This was between Seattle’s best team (2nd place overall) and one of Portland’s best teams. The balls were chilled to keep them stiff.

I had some good braughts from that chest. It was totaly necasary to cool those balls down, even the super hot weather balls got sticky.
Awesome to see NYC come all the way to the Tour De Polo, Fiona and Ken rock! (im the guy with the alluminum wheel disk and the shark face)

Looks to me like the old schoolers are doing it with *one* tap in point. hmmm.

I thought our court was small…
I thought they would be faster.

re: tap-in point – When Fiona and I got there on Thursday night, they were playing with a Circle-Out rule. I got the impression that’s the way it was done out there. We insisted they change the tournament to a tap-out point. They conceded.
alright, that’s not really how it went. I don’t know why they decided on a tapout. Thanks for posting the video, Doug.

everything is relative. smaller courts are just as fast, though relatively of course. top speeds may be lower but when you are facing the wrong way you have way less time to catch the guy who just screamed by you with the ball that you gave up. smaller courts emphasize passing and the ability to ‘break’ a team by catching them the wrong way. personally, i like the smaller court because it favours fast technical play over just fast play. these courts were smaller than toronto, but not that much smaller– i preferred them over new york size.
i find that almost all polo video doesn’t give away how fast the game really is. believe me, it was fast.
