MKE Polo Fork installed
I came back from Wisconsin with a prototype of the Milwaukee Bicycle Co. new MKE Polo Fork. I finally installed it with some help from Affinity Cycles.
I added a big free wheel for the photos but for game play it will not be there. Instead I’ll be running the front without any cog or freewheel installed. And I’ll carry a spare wheel and a spare freewheel. If I get in a pinch and need to replace the front I’ll throw the spare straight on the front. If I flat the rear or rip out a grip of spokes or destroy the rim or fall victim to any of the many bad things that can happen to wheels on the court, then I’ll spin the spare freewheel to the spare wheel and a quick swap and back in the game. Time outs are becoming more popular in tournaments, would you rather spend a minute looking for some bike to borrow or getting your bike back on the court?
And from MKE:

What is the spacing for the fork?

Thanks for asking. It’s the one stat that is not listed.
It’s spaced to 120mm to accept a rear flip-flop track hub.
The dropouts are slotted to accept the larger rear axle.

Thanks.

this appears to be a bruiser fork that is supposed to handle a rear hub? my question is if i fuck up a back wheel and take it off the front I then have a fucked up front wheel…or really good ability to wheelie home…not sure…guess it depends how drunk I am.

Super cool, and very interesting to see the technology develop. I’m planning to build myself a polo bike soon but with every passing day there is a change of spec as new stuff gets added to my want list …. it aint gonna get built at this rate!!

It is spaced so you can ride to the court with a different cog setup for riding, versus what you would use on the court i think.

you can ride with a cog and or freewheel installed. one side, or both sides, high tooth count or low.
